Desmond Claude could be absent for the Huskies' game against the Buckeyes

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team has been plagued with injuries the entire season.

Senior forward Jacob Ognacevic has been out the entire year to this point and junior forward Mady Traore will miss the entire season due to a foot injury he suffered in preseason practice.

In addition to those pair of ailments, the Huskies have also had several players miss games, as well. Sophomore forward Bryson Tucker, freshman forward Hannes Steinbach and senior guard Desmond Claude all missed time this year due to respective ankle sprains.

Sophomore guard Wesley Yates III and sophomore center Lathan Sommerville have also missed Washington's last four games. Yates underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his wrist and Sommerville has been out since tweaking his knee in practice, although imaging revealed no structural damage.

MORE HUSKIES STORIES:

Recently, the Huskies got some good news on the injury front. Ognacevic was a full participant in practice and Yates had his wrist taped during team practice Jan. 10.

The team will check on both players' availability ahead of a game against Ohio State on Jan. 11. If either is cleared to play, they'll be limited according to a report on "X" from Circling Seattle Sports.

Unfortunately for Washington, even if Ognacevic and Yates are able to play, the team could be without Claude.

According to comments made by Huskies head coach Danny Sprinkle after practice, Claude is away from the team due to a personal matter and it's unclear if he'll play against Ohio State.

Washington is coming off a two-game Big Ten road trip, which saw it lose 90-80 to Indiana on Jan. 4 and an 81-73 loss against No. 5 Purdue on Jan. 7.

Claude is averaging 14.5 points per game this season on 43% shooting from the floor. He's also averaged 2.6 rebounds per game and 2.1 rebounds per game.

Yates has averaged 14.9 points per game this year on a 39.5% mark from the floor. He's also pulled in 3.9 rebounds per game and has swiped 1.6 steals per game.

Ognacevic has yet to register a minute of playing time with the Huskies. Last season with Lipscomb, he averaged 20 points per game on a 57.5% mark from the floor and brought in eight rebounds per game while dishing 1.4 assists per game.

Washington has a 9-6 overall record this season and is 1-3 in the Big Ten. Its lone win was against Southern California (USC).
