Hannes Steinbach has already impressed in his brief time in college, and is garnering interest from various analysts

The Washington Huskies are only one game deep into the 2025-26 season, but there's been several standouts from the brief time the team has been on the court this season.

Washington had an almost completely new roster this year compared to last. Only two players on the team this season were with the program last year.

Of the new players on the team, one of the early standouts has been freshman forward Hannes Steinbach.

In the Huskies' 77-62 exhibition win against UNLV on Oct. 19, Steinbach scored 22 points on 10-for-15 shooting and had 16 rebounds.

In Washington's 94-50 win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 3, Steinbach put up 21 points and went 9-for-11 from the floor and had seven rebounds.

Despite only having one regular season game under his belt, Steinbach has started to get noticed by various different draft analysts.

The Athletic reporter Sam Vecenie posted a 2026 NBA mock draft on Tuesday, and Steinbach was projected as a second-round pick.

Vecenie had Steinbach slated to be picked with the third overall selection in the second round (No. 33 overall).

Despite being a freshman, Steinbach is 20-years-old. He was an international recruit out of Germany and led the national team to a sliver medal in the FIBA U19 World Cup this past summer.

"I think (college basketball and playing overseas) is pretty similar," Steinbach said in an interview with Emerald City Spectrum writer Aaron Coe on Oct. 31. "As I said, here it's more athletic. My club for Germany, there were people who were 30-years-old. Of course they're not going to be as athletic but they have way more experience physically. So it's kind of a difference ... (but) almost the same."

Steinbach and the Huskies will next be in action in a game against Denver at 6 p.m. PT on Nov. 6 at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.
