With four games left in the season, the Washington Huskies football team has put together a stellar season.
Washington has a 6-2 record on the season (3-2 in Big Ten action). It's most recently coming off a bye week. It's last game was a 42-25 win against then-No. 23 Illinois on Oct. 25.
Coming off the bye, the Huskies were ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll and No. 23 in the first College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings of the season.
A large part of Washington's success in its second season under head coach Jedd Fisch has been the play of senior running back Jonah Coleman.
The fourth-year running back has won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. He's ran the ball 126 times for 643 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's also caught 27 passes for 316 yards yards and two touchdowns.
Coleman's 15 total touchdowns are the most in the country for a non-quarterback and his 13 rushing touchdowns are tied for most in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
Coleman will turn pro after this season, and he might be high on several teams' boards.
The consensus top-graded running back prospect going into the 2026 NFL Draft is Notre Dame junior Jeremiyah Love.
As to the best running backs available after Love, that's a bigger question but one NFL Draft analyst has high opinion on Coleman.
Ryan Roberts of A to Z Sports posted a clip of Coleman on "X" (@RiseNDraft) and said the fourth-year running back is "very much" in the conversation for the second-best running back available in next year's draft.
Coleman's talent has been evident since his true freshman season. He played in 12 games as a freshman at Arizona in 2022. After his sophomore season with the Wildcats, he entered the transfer portal and followed his coach, Fisch, to the Huskies. Fisch was the head coach at Arizona during Coleman's freshman and sophomore seasons.
Coleman posted his first career 1,000-yard rushing campaign last year with Washington. He toted the ball 193 times for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 23 passes for 177 yards.
Coleman has set single-season career-highs in rushing touchdowns, catches and receiving touchdowns and has four more games left in the season against Wisconsin, Purdue, UCLA and No. 6 Oregon to further enhance his draft resume.
