The Kansas City Chiefs’ preparations for the season were interrupted by a tragic off-field incident on Sunday night.
Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy’s wife, Mia Bieniemy, was reportedly shot by the couple’s son at their family's Ashburn, Va., home.
She is in stable condition after being shot in the chest and arm, according to ESPN’s sources.
Bienemy immediately left training camp and was absent from Monday’s practice as he tends to the family emergency.
Authorities report that the Loudoun County police responded to the scene around 7:32 p.m. ET Sunday with an ongoing investigation into the incident.
