The former Ravens head coach is reportedly finalizing deal to be this team's next head coach, barring any setbacks.

Nothing is finalized until pen is put to paper, but it appears that the courting of former Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh by nearly every NFL team with a vacancy at head coach is coming to an end. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that, barring any setbacks, the New York Giants are finalizing an agreement to close the deal with Harbaugh. The deal isn’t final, with sources telling Schefter “There still is a lot to work through" – namely, the financials and contract numbers are still being negotiated.

That all said, sources say that Harbaugh is ready to accept and the Giants are ready to hire him ASAP as long as there aren’t any last-minute setbacks. Harbaugh met with New York’s brass where they wine-and-dined him – but he left without a contract, sending fans into a flurry. However, with Harbaugh still set to meet with the Tennessee Titans Thursday, and after speaking with the Atlanta Falcons Monday, the Giants aren’t the only ones trying to land him. They do have quite an enticing situation with quarterback Jaxson Dart that might be the difference-maker.

Here is the full story from Giants Roundtable writer Matthew Schmidt breaking down the large push to close the deal with Harbaugh and how he fits in New York.

The veteran coach is reportedly looking to land with a team that has a good situation at quarterback, and New York certainly fits that bill. The Giants also have the No. 5 pick in the NFL draft. They also have an estimated $20 million in cap space, which offers financial flexibility to sign free agents along with draft capital.
