Injuries continue to mount for the Chicago Bears as a carted-off Cam Lewis and hobbled Luther Burden III highlight the Bears' ninth training camp practice of the summer.

The Chicago Bears finished training camp practice No. 9 on Saturday at Halas Hall.

For the fourth time this summer, head coach Ben Johnson's team practiced in full pads. Injuries have become a common trend in those practices, and that continued Saturday morning.

According to reporters, wide receiver Luther Burden III and defensive back Cam Lewis were injured during the practice. Burden and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson got tangled up during a 1-on-1 rep. Stevenson fell hard to the ground and immediately put his hand on his back, but the veteran corner finished the rest of practice. Burden walked off the field slowly with trainer Andre Tucker.

A fan recorded the rep between Burden and Stevenson.

Lewis' injury happened at the end of an 11-on-11 session. The versatile defensive back got tangled with wide receiver Rome Odunze on a deep ball, according to reports. After walking off the field with a trainer, the cart was brought out. With the Bears practicing on the furthest fields from Halas Hall, the cart is typically standard for all injuries, regardless of the severity.

The Bears have some glaring depth issues in the secondary. Lewis initially played as the nickel cornerback, starting for an injured Kyler Gordon. However, after Coby Bryant suffered a knee injury during Monday's first padded practice, the veteran shifted over to safety.

Veteran safety Elijah Hicks is still on the physically unable to perform list. The Bears lost two more defensive backs during Thursday's fully padded practice. Dallis Flower was placed on the reserve/injured list, while DBs K.C. Eziomume and Gervarrius Ownes were waived with an injury designation.

With the injuries mounting, the Bears signed defensive backs Xavier Woods, Brandon Hill and William Wright.

Other Notes

Left tackle Braxton Jones was injured in Thursday's practice and was not seen on Saturday. Jedrick Wills Jr. started at left tackle with the Bears' first-team offense, making this the second time he has received the starting reps.

According to Chicago Sun-Time reporter Patrick Finley, here is who was missing from Saturday' practice.

Outside of injuries and the left tackle competition, it sounds like the play of the day happened in during an 11-on-11 session, with the Bears' offense down by seven with 24 seconds left in the half and lined up at the defense's 17-yard line.

Williams reportedly extended the play and fired a ball into the back of the end zone to Rome Odunze. With three defenders in the area, Odunze caught the ball and was able to get his feet in bounds for the score.

According to Cronin, Colston Loveland also had himself a day during the 7-on-7 period, making two big-time catches. After diving in the corner for a touchdown, Loveland punted the football, which drew a flag.

Rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad got some reps at the nickel spot with the first-team defense.
