Bears Unsung Hero Gets Shoutout From Tom Brady cover image

Tom Brady celebrates Nahshon Wright's overlooked season, highlighting his game-changing turnovers. Despite injuries, this corner emerged as a true defensive force.

The Chicago Bears' secondary had its fair share of injuries in 2025.

Kyler Gordon was sidelined before the season began, suffering a hamstring injury in preseason that kept him out of the first four games. He returned in Week 6, only to sustain a calf injury in Week 8 that put him on the injured reserve.

Gordon came off the IR in Week 13, but then suffered a groin injury in pregame warmups in Week 14 and went back. He returned for the playoffs and played in both games, participating in five games total.

Jaylon Johnson also missed significant time due to injury this season. He suffered a groin injury back in Week 2 and didn't return from the IR until Week 13. However, once healthy, he played in the remaining games Chicago had.

The team signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson to fill in at nickel corner while Gordon was out with his injury. However, another corner really stepped up when the team needed him the most.

Nahshon Wright quietly had a very productive season for the Bears, recording 80 total tackles, five interceptions, three TFLs and three fumble recoveries.

Wright's play this season impressed even the likes of Tom Brady, who named the Bears corner his LFG Best Value Player of the Year

"I got a guy," Brady said. "Nahshon Wright, corner, Bears. He had a tremendous season. He was an absolute turnover machine. The Bears, they didn't do a great job between the 20s, okay? The ball was moved a lot. But when it came to turning the ball over, they were better than every team in the league, and he was a huge reason why."

The Bears finished the regular season with 33 turnovers.

Even though Wright had a solid season, he wasn't voted to the Pro Bowl. At least not at first. He missed the initial Pro Bowl roster, but was added as a replacement for Philadelphia Eagles corner Quinyon Mitchell.

Wright is one of the many contract decisions facing the Bears this offseason. Kevin Byard, Jaquan Brisker, Gardner-Johnson, Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, Jonathan Owens, Olamide Zaccheaus and Andrew Billings are set to hit the free agent market.

Wright was a great help in the secondary at times, but his future with Chicago is sadly uncertain.
