Defender Nahshon Wright secures a Pro Bowl spot after a strong season. His future with the Bears, however, hangs in the balance amidst contract uncertainty.

The Chicago Bears initially had three players make the Pro Bowl, but that number changed on Monday.

Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman and Kevin Byard were the only Bears players before Monday.

Thuney reached his fourth Pro Bowl, while Dalman made his first and Byard reached the event for the third time in his career.

That number grew to four, with Nahshon Wright replacing Philadelphia Eagles corner Quinyon Mitchell. Wright had 80 total tackles, five interceptions and three TFLs.

Many thought that Wright deserved to be named to the roster originally. Even Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons was shocked that the Bears' corner didn't make the team.

Wright responded to missing the Pro Bowl earlier in the season, sharing how hopeful he was to make it.

"I would say I was probably more hopeful than anything," Wright said. "I mean, you'd think if you lead the league in takeaways, that's gotta count for something, right? It's cool just coming from what I had to overcome."

He started his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. He spent three seasons in Dallas before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

The unfortunate thing about the Wright situation is that his contract with the Bears has expired. A lot of members of the secondary are set to become free agents, including Byard and Jaquan Brisker.

Wright's contract with the Bears was for one year and set at $1.1 million.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Jonathan Owens are hitting the free agent market.

Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson are still under contract, but both had significant injury issues in 2025. Gordon had hamstring, calf, and groin issues this past season, while Johnson missed significant time due to a groin injury he suffered in Week 2.

Gordon and Johnson both returned from the injured reserve in Week 13. However, Gordon went back in Week 14 after sustaining a groin injury in pregame warmups.

Gardner-Johnson filled the nickel role in the secondary while Gordon was injured. He recorded 51 total tackles, two interceptions, five TFLs and one sack.

Wright is just one of the many contract decisions that the Bears will consider this offseason. While the cornerback had a great season on the surface, there were times when he was a liability.

Wright finished with a PFF grade in the 50s in the Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions. Should Chicago bring the Pro Bowl corner back?
