The Chicago Bears lost offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to the Baltimore Ravens, where he joined head coach Jesse Minter's staff.
This leaves a massive hole in Ben Johnson's staff now at the Bears. Even more so after a recent interview with tight end Cole Kmet revealed just how involved Doyle was with the offense.
Kmet shared that Doyle was in charge of halftime adjustments for the Bears' offense, a role with importance that can't be understated.
It will be hard to replace someone like Doyle, who had such an in-depth role with the offense. On my list of potential replacements were Davis Webb, Nate Scheelhaase and Hank Fraley.
The Bears are looking to the NFC West for candidates, it seems, as they requested to interview Arizona Cardinals passing game specialist Connor Senger for their OC opening, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Senger has been with the Cardinals for four seasons, but 2025 was his first as the team's passing game specialist.
His coaching career started at Wisconsin-Oshkosh as the quarterbacks coach in 2017. He stayed in Wisconsin for two more years, coaching at Carroll in 2018 and Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2019.
Senger then traveled to North Dakota State to be an offensive quality control coordinator from 2020-21. He landed with the Cardinals in 2022, where he has been ever since.
He joined Arizona thanks to the franchise's Bill Bidwell Coaching Fellowship program. In 2023, he was promoted to an offensive quality control coach. Then, in 2024, he worked more closely with the passing game as the assistant quarterbacks coach.
Senger had his work cut out for him with the Cardinals in 2025.
Kyler Murray only played in five games due to a foot injury. He accounted for 962 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.
In Murray's place, the Cardinals started Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. Brissett put up solid numbers, throwing for 3,366 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Even with Murray's injury this past season, the Cardinals' passing game was still one of the best in the country. Arizona finished with the fifth-most passing yards per game (256.1).
The Bears had the 12th-most passing yards per game (234.8) in 2025, and could definitely use someone like Senger to help elevate their aerial attack.
The Bears aren't the only ones interested in him, however. The Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers have interviewed him for their quarterback coaching jobs.
Chicago may have to move quickly on Senger if it wants him to be the OC.
