The Chicago Bears were one of the four teams that ESPN believed had a chance of landing Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
The Bears and Raiders have been linked in trade talks even before the offseason. Crosby's fallout with the Raiders was well documented during the 2025 season.
It started when they shut him down for the rest of the regular season after a meniscus injury. People speculated just how injured he was, as he later posted a video on social media of himself playing basketball.
Rumors started to spread that the Raiders were trying to tank to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Just because there is tension between Crosby and the organization doesn't mean a trade will be easy. With Crosby's injury, a trade won't be possible until before or after the draft.
Then, there is the cost of the trade.
NFL Analyst Jay Glazer believes teams will have to give up more than the Green Bay Packers did to acquire Micah Parsons. The Packers sent two first-round picks and Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys to land Parsons.
There have been multiple mock trades about what the Bears would need to give up to acquire a player like Crosby. One had the Bears sending a 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 fifth-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick and D.J. Moore to the Raiders for Crosby.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler had a similar mock trade, with the Bears giving up Moore, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick.
"Like Bill Barnwell's suggested proposal from Monday, I have Moore involved in this Crosby trade with Chicago," Fowler said. "The Bears must upgrade a defensive line that tied with the Bengals for last in pass rush win rate last season (28.8%). The presence of Crosby would elevate a team on the cusp of being a contender after reaching the divisional round in coach Ben Johnson's first year with the team."
Either way, sending Moore to the Raiders would get the Bears out of his contract. Moore won't become a free agent until 2030. He is in the midst of a four-year, $110 million contract with the Bears, according to Spotrac.
Even with Moore, the Bears still may need to give up more draft capital for Crosby if what Glazer said is true.
Adding Crosby to the Bears' defensive line could push them into a contender for 2026.
