Caleb Williams loves Chicago.
That's something a lot of people can relate with.
The Chicago Bears' quarterback is entering his third season as the face of the historic NFL franchise. When he first moved to the Chicagoland area after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, he had some hesitation about his new home.
“I didn’t think I was going to like it that much, to be honest," Williams said during his interview on Hot Ones. "And I fell in love with the city of Chicago. The people, the food, obviously the sports. And then, also, Chicago’s actually insanely clean. So it surprised me.”
What's also surprising and refreshing to see is Williams' relationships with some of the other professional athletes in the city. After a fully padded practice on Thursday and likely some meetings to attend at Halas Hall, the Bears were free to go for the weekend before preparation starts for the Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13.
After work, Williams took advantage of his time off and attended the final regular-season game against the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. Like many people, Williams went to the ballpark with a group of friends, only his group featured Chicago Bulls Matas Buzelis and rookie Caleb Wilson. American music video editor and founder of Lyrical Lemonade Cole Bennett also sat with the professional athletes just behind the Cubs' dugout.
The group of friends started a "PCA" chant for Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who also hangs out with Williams and Buzelis.
Although Williams is the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears, has millions of dollars and world-wide fame, he's a lot like the everyday person. That's why this Bears fanbase has embraced the 24-year-old with open arms.
Oh, he's also pretty good at football. That helps.
But Williams is genuine. Regardless of what others think about him, he stays true to himself. That's a quality that resonates with many people and one they aspire to achieve in their everyday lives.
Not many people can pull off just the mustache, a different and bold look that the quarterback debuted at the Cubs' games. It fits his bold personality.
When Williams isn't on the football field or at the ballpark, he's home -- which happens to be a $12.9 million mansion on the Lake Forest lake front. And when he's there he likes to play the video game ARC Raiders. He'll crash out every once in a while while playing .Even the Iceman will lose his cool.
Who hasn't lost it while playing a video game? If you're pointing to yourself, I have feeling that's not true.
More than anything, though, Williams wants to win Super Bowls in Chicago. Given how he speaks about his football legacy, a single ring wouldn't be enough.
Bears fans can resonate with that ambition, making Williams a quarterback the city of Chicago can truly believe in.
