Chicago targets defensive lineman Jordan Elliott for a potential reunion with Jeffery Simmons, weighing his veteran production against a recent facility incident that led to his Titans release.

The Chicago Bears aren't done bringing in former Tennessee Titans players it seems.

They already traded for Jeffery Simmons, sending three draft picks to Tennessee. Simmons looked the part in his first game. He had six total tackles, one sack and two TFLs in the 34-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

As the Bears are getting ready to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football, news broke about one of Simmons' former teammates that the Bears are looking to sign.

NFL Analyst Jordan Schultz reported on Friday that the Bears were giving former Titans defensive lineman Jordan Elliott a workout.

He's made 65 career starts in the NFL, amassing 159 total tackles, 11 TFLs and five sacks. He's been a productive player throughout his career, but there are some off-the-field issues that the Bears will have to take into account.

Elliott joined the Titans this offseason in free agency. He had played for Titans head coach Robert Saleh in the past. Saleh was the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers last year and coached Elliott.

He played in the first five games for the Titans this year, and then he mysteriously appeared on their injury report ahead of the Week 6 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Elliott wasn't injured and was instead ruled out of the game due to a personal issue. Then, a few days after the game, the Titans released a statement saying that they had released Elliott due to an incident that had occurred at the Titans' practice facility on Oct. 15.

It was later reported that Elliott had a disagreement with one of his teammates and left the locker room frustrated. He went to the parking garage at the facility to get a gun from his car.

Thankfully, the situation was de-escalated, and the gun was never used. Although the team had to release Elliott, Saleh was very adamant about Elliott's character. He spoke about the issue at a press conference shortly after the news came out.

Saleh noted that Elliott is a good player and a good person who made a bad decision. The head coach emphasized that this was Elliott's cry for help, not a criminal act.

We'll have to wait and see if the Bears decide to sign Elliott. He is a reliable player, but the recent incident with the Titans is definitely something for the Bears to consider.

Perhaps the Bears will give him a second chance.
