Bears QB Caleb Williams Break All-Time NFL Record
Nov 5, 2026 12:00 PM

Surpassing Aaron Rodgers, the Chicago rookie secured his place in league history by maintaining unprecedented ball security through 36 consecutive games without a single intercepted pass.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made franchise history last season.

He broke the franchise record for single-season passing yards. He surpassed the previous record set by Erik Kramer in 1995 of 3,838. Williams had 3,942 passing yards last season.

Now, he's become a part of NFL history.

In his last game, he threw for 247 passing yards with one touchdown, helping guide the Bears to a 34-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks on the road.

Entering Monday, Williams was tied with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the most consecutive games without an interception in at least 20 passing attempts.

Williams and Rodgers were tied at 35.

That all changed after Williams played another clean game without turning the ball over. Windy City Gridiron's Ken Mitchell revealed that Williams now holds the record, with 36 consecutive games with 20 or more pass attempts without throwing an interception.

Williams has had a smaller sample size, but it's still impressive that he's done such a good job with the football.

He missed three games due to a hamstring injury that he sustained in the 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. He is back and hasn't missed a beat.

He threw for 305 passing yards and one touchdown in the win over the Atlanta Falcons. He had 308 passing yards and two touchdowns in the Thursday Night Football victory over the New England Patriots.

This is a positive change for Williams.

Far too many times we'd see Williams try to play hero ball and make an impossible throw. If he made it, great, but there were also times where he would force the ball into traffic and it would be intercepted.

It seems that Williams is learning to take what the defense gives him, whether that's room to run or just taking check downs when necessary.

We know that Williams has plenty of potential, but it's another thing to be coachable. Bears quarterback coach J.T. Barrett stressed taking the easy plays this offseason, and it's paying dividends for Williams.

With Williams' career trajectory, this likely won't be the last NFL record that he'll break. There's no doubt he's going to break more Bears records too.

The Bears quarterback will look to continue his streak on Sunday Night Football in Week 9, as the team takes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finally got Baker Mayfield back from injury.

Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC live from Soldier Field.
