Chicago's offensive line could receive a massive boost against Atlanta as head coach Ben Johnson hints that the young tackle is finally nearing his long-awaited season debut.

The Chicago Bears had positive updates on key players, including Caleb Williams and Kyler Gordon, on Friday's injury report.

Williams and Gordon were both questionable for Week 6. Williams is recovering from a hamstring injury, and Gordon has a soft-tissue injury. Both were full participants at practice this week.

Head coach Ben Johnson wasn't willing to commit to Williams or Gordon as starters. For Gordon, the Bears still have to elevate him to the active roster since he's still on the PUP list, even though his 21-day practice window has been opened.

The Bears will be without two starters on the defensive line. Montez Sweat is suspended for the next two games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy.

Dayo Odeyingbo was listed as out on the injury report. Grady Jarrett will need to step up in their absence.

Another player fans are anxiously awaiting updates on is Ozzy Trapilo. Trapilo made a speedy recovery from his patellar injury at the end of last season. He was finally removed from the PUP list during training camp but still hasn't played in a game.

Braxton Jones was named the starting left tackle but sustained a knee injury in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles and was placed on injured reserve. Theo Benedet has started at left tackle since then.

Trapilo hasn't been on the injury report since Week 2. The Bears' left tackle still hasn't seen the field.

Johnson offered the latest on Trapilo at Friday's press conference. He believed that Trapilo was nearing a return.

"Yeah, we think he's really close," Johnson said. "We think he's really close."

He even teased that the team might see him this week against the Atlanta Falcons.

"There's a chance that he's up this week," Johnson said.

This answer is nothing out of the ordinary from Johnson. This should still give Bears fans hope that Trapilo's long-awaited return is almost here.

The Bears will need all the help they can get in more important games down the stretch.

Chicago is already down two games in the NFC North after falling to the Green Bay Packers 31-7 in Week 5. The Bears won't play their next divisional game until Nov. 26, but there are plenty of important games before then.

The Bears will see the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints before their next NFC North game with the Detroit Lions. The Bears will have other matchups with the Packers and Vikings to close out divisional play.

Getting Trapilo back sooner rather than later is the goal. Will the Bears risk bringing him back too early?
