The Buffalo Bills have to add to the defense at some point.
The Buffalo Bills are entering Week 6 of the NFL season holding a record of 4-1.
This team will be taking on the Las Vegas Raiders this week, giving them another strong challenge. But the Bills are a confident group, feeling like they can matchup well against anyone in the NFL.
Buffalo has been able to generate a lot of excitement around it, with new head coach Joe Brady helping the team already. Brady gives this team new energy, and it has played a role in how the Bills have
Once again, the Bills have one of the more explosive offenses in the entire NFL, giving themselves a chance each week. With the team being led by star quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills have been able to put together a strong start to the season.
But on the flip side, the defense remains a problem, with the Bills being ranked toward the bottom in the league. Buffalo hasn't been able to stop anyone on defense, and it could end up holding them back down the line.
At some point, the Bills' front office is going to have to address this issue, adding more talent to the defense. This could come either by a trade, free agency, or even in the upcoming NFL Draft.
In a new 2027 Mock Draft from Bleacher Report, the Bills address the defense, taking a safety with the No. 29 pick. Buffalo takes safety Brauntae Johnson out of Notre Dame in this hypothetical draft.
If the Bills were to take Johnson, it could help out the secondary in a strong way. The Notre Dame star has good size for a safety, and he can be a big playmaker for any defense in the NFL.
Johnson has dealt with some injuries this season, limiting him to just one game so far. But last season, he played in 10 games, posting 48 total tackles, four interceptions, three pass deflections, and one defensive touchdown.
NFL teams have been impressed with his physicality on the field, along with his movement in the backend of the defense. At Notre Dame, Johnson has been a leader of the team, showing skills that all teams will want to see play out.
Overall, this could be one of the better players for the Bills to consider if they were to have a late pick in the first round. Notre Dame has produced NFL-ready talent for multiple years, and Buffalo needs a player who can come in right away to make a big difference.
