Buffalo reshuffles its active roster, promoting cornerback Anthony Kendall and releasing veteran Mike Danna to fortify a defensive unit missing key starters for the primetime clash in Los Angeles.

The Buffalo Bills have made four roster moves ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, adding depth at cornerback, defensive line, and wide receiver.

Buffalo signed cornerback Anthony Kendall from the practice squad to its active roster and released outside linebacker Mike Danna. The team also elevated defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis and wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. from the practice squad for the Week 5 contest.

Kendall spent training camp with Buffalo before making the team's practice squad following final roster cuts. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2023 and appeared in 16 games as a rookie, primarily contributing on special teams. Monday's move puts him on the Bills' 53-man roster moving forward.

Danna, meanwhile, leaves Buffalo after signing with the team in May. The veteran outside linebacker previously spent five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, recording 17.5 sacks during his time with the franchise. His release opened a spot on the active roster for Kendall.

The Bills are also bringing up Mathis and Sherfield as they prepare for a matchup with several injury concerns. It's both players' first of three possible call-ups before Buffalo has to make a decision on their roster status.

Mathis provides additional depth along the defensive line, with Ed Oliver ruled out because of a knee injury. Mathis recorded 13 tackles in six games for Buffalo last season. He was released after serving a three-game suspension to begin the 2026 campaign, before returning to the practice squad.

Sherfield's elevation gives Buffalo another option at wide receiver with Joshua Palmer ruled out and DJ Moore listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Sherfield returned to Buffalo this offseason and caught all seven of his targets for 76 yards during the preseason before landing on the practice squad.

It also puts into question what, if any, role rookie Skyler Bell will have. He's expected to play, but with Sherfield's elevation, that puts that into question until inactives are announced shortly.

The Bills will look to improve to 4-1 when they face the Rams on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ABC.
