Buffalo bolsters its defensive depth by reuniting with Andre Jones Jr. and A.J. Woods, shuffling the practice squad as the AFC East leaders gear up for Baltimore.
With the Buffalo Bills set to return to practice on Wednesday after the Bye Week, the team is making some minor roster moves.
Buffalo announced Tuesday that it signed outside linebacker Andre Jones Jr. and cornerback A.J. Woods to the practice squad. To make room for the additions, the Bills released cornerback Anthony Kendall and defensive lineman Austin Johnson.
Both Jones and Woods are returning to Buffalo after previous stints with the team this season, giving the Bills additional options on defense as they prepare to host Baltimore at Highmark Stadium on Sunday.
Jones spent time with Buffalo in 2025 and returned to the team for training camp this summer. He recorded nine tackles and a sack during the preseason before being waived during final roster cuts and rejoining the practice squad.
The Miami Dolphins subsequently signed Jones off Buffalo's practice squad in September. He appeared in three games for Miami before being waived on Oct. 20, allowing the Bills to bring him back into the fold. Jones also appeared in three regular-season games for Buffalo in 2025, recording five tackles, and played in one postseason game.
Woods is also back for another stint with the Bills. Buffalo first signed the corner to its practice squad on Oct. 6 before releasing him on Oct. 19 to make room for Tre'Davious White. A week later, he's back.
The 25-year-old played college football at Pittsburgh and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Washington in 2024. He has also spent time with Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Denver.
Woods has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game, but his return gives Buffalo another option at cornerback as the team works through its defensive depth.
The Bills are moving on from Kendall, who has bounced between the practice squad and active roster throughout the season. He played 46 defensive snaps against the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 12 after being promoted from the practice squad, then returned to the practice squad before Tuesday's release.
Johnson also departs after joining Buffalo's practice squad in September. The 32-year-old defensive lineman previously played for the Bills during the 2024 season, appearing in 15 games and recording 19 tackles, half a sack and two interceptions.
Buffalo enters Week 8 at 5-1 after its Bye Week and will host the 4-3 Ravens on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Practice and preparation for the week will begin in earnest on Wednesday.
