In news that's sure to surprise everyone, Josh Allen is a candidate for NFL MVP in 2026.
ESPN reporters recently released 100 thoughts on the upcoming season with 100 days until the games begin. They spoke about a number of different categories, including plenty of Buffalo Bills talk.
From position battles to underrated rookies, there was a lot covered. But one thing that shouldn't come as a shock is the ESPN staffers listing Allen as a top MVP candidate this season.
All 10 players mentioned as candidates are quarterbacks—that's a conversation for another time—and Buffalo's franchise player is leading the way.
Talking about Allen, ESPN didn't hold back the praise.
"He's the best quarterback in the NFL, and if the Bills are the No. 1 seed in the AFC -- which is well within the cards -- it will be because Allen delivered an MVP-worthy performance," they said.
After winning MVP in 2024, Allen was once again a favorite to win in 2025. In fact, he was near the top of many pundits' ballots for a large part of the year. However, a stellar season from Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford saw him win his first MVP.
Still, Allen's season wasn't anything to scoff at. He finished with 39 total touchdowns, 3,668 yards passing, and 579 yards rushing. His play was a big reason for the team's success, and, without him, there's a good chance Buffalo doesn't come close to the playoffs.
In 2026, Allen has a couple of new weapons in DJ Moore and Skyler Bell, as well as a returning (and healthy) Dalton Kincaid. The opportunity is there to not only win another MVP award, but finally get the Bills back to the Super Bowl.
Other candidates for the award, according to ESPN, include Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Drake Maye, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, and Jordan Love.
