According to ESPN, Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen can make major NFL history this season.
Allen can surpass Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes for the most combined passing and rushing yards by a quarterback in his first nine NFL seasons.
"This would take Allen close to the end of the season, but it is well within reach," ESPN wrote. "Allen is 3,782 yards away from eclipsing Mahomes (38,604), and Allen has not missed a start since his rookie season. He averages 590.1 rushing yards and 3,762.8 passing yards per season, so he could pass Mahomes with multiple games to spare. Breaking records is a common occurrence for Allen, and with new No. 1 receiver D.J. Moore added to the mix, he's primed to set many marks yet again."
A future Hall of Famer, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. Those are incredible numbers.
Unfortunately, the Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round. Buffalo still hasn't reached the Super Bowl in the Allen era.
Allen enters this season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
It will be fascinating to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land this season. Time is running out for Allen to win a championship.
After all, he's not getting any younger and there is so much young talent in today's NFL.
The Bills open the 2026 season against the Houston Texans to kick off the Joe Brady era. Brady was promoted from OC to HC after Sean McDermott was fired.
"Still respecting the past and what's been here the last 10 years and not shying away from that, but also having his own twist on it," Allen said after Brady was named HC. "It's been really good to see him embrace the role and step into it. The way that he talks to the guys, you can tell he's very well respected with everybody in that locker room, and it's only going to continue to grow in my opinion."
Allen needs to win at least one Super Bowl to be considered an all-time great. The Bills have reached the AFC Championship Game twice in the Allen era. Buffalo lost to Mahomes and Kansas City both times.
The Bills made a blockbuster trade this offseason to get Allen more help, acquiring Moore from the Chicago Bears. For the Bears last season, Moore had 50 catches for 682 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. He played in all 17 games, proving once again that he's one of the most reliable players in the NFL.
Moore has played for the Carolina Panthers and Bears. He enters this season with 608 receptions, 8,213 receiving yards and 41 receiving touchdowns in the NFL. It should be fun to see what Allen and Moore can do together in Brady's offense.
