The Buffalo Bills have a plan for new WR D.J. Moore.
The Buffalo Bills made a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears in the offseason, acquiring WR D.J. Moore, who played for first-year head coach Joe Brady in Carolina.
Buffalo, according to ESPN, plans to have Moore run "deep- and intermediate-breaking routes" in 2026. The Bills are looking forward to having Moore be Josh Allen's deep-route target this season.
"But when I asked around about the plan for Moore's usage in this offense, I heard a lot about deep- and intermediate-breaking routes," ESPN's Ben Solak wrote. "Internally, the Bills say that they should be a lot more productive off play-action given how dominant their running game has been in the past few seasons, and Moore is the first guy up for those one-on-one downfield opportunities."
For the Bears last season, Moore had 50 catches for 682 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. He played in all 17 games, proving once again that he's one of the most reliable players in the NFL.
Moore has played for the Panthers and Bears. He enters this season with 608 receptions, 8,213 receiving yards and 41 receiving touchdowns in the NFL.
Moore and Allen were in the same draft class back in 2018, so the two stars already have a relationship. Getting traded to a new team is tough, but at least Moore has a rapport with Allen and Brady.
"We were in the same draft class," Allen said about Moore. "We spent a little bit of time together actually at the rookie premiere way back in the day. He's a team-first guy. He's obviously very, very talented."
The Bills have yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Allen era. Moore is Buffalo's new WR1. Allen hasn't had a talented guy like Moore since Stefon Diggs.
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The Pro Bowler enters this season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
Buffalo opens the 2026 season against the Houston Texans. Let's see if Allen and Moore connect for a TD right away.
