Demanding a "kill or be killed" mentality, Dion Dawkins challenges Buffalo’s roster to elevate their play and finally propel MVP Josh Allen toward a Super Bowl title.
The Buffalo Bills fired Sean McDermott after losing to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round, despite the head coach making the postseason eight times in his nine years with the team.
The Bills sent a message that making the postseason wasn't enough. Buffalo wants to make and win the Super Bowl with quarterback Josh Allen. Frankly, the Bills should have been the favorite to win the AFC championship last season, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens out of the postseason.
During an appearance on "Good Morning Football" on Thursday, Bills five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Dion Dawkins sent a warning to his offensive players, noting it was either "kill or be killed" this season.
The Bills need to help Allen, viewed by many around the league as the NFL's best quarterback, make a Super Bowl appearance.
"It seems like we need all the pieces around (Allen) to continue to get better to help him get over that hump," Dawkins said, via NFL Media. "Because if Josh is No. 1, he's at his best, right? If I'm not top 10 or I'm not No. 1, that means that I'm not at my best, which means I have to do better. Dawson (Knox), Dalton (Kincaid), Joe Brady, (James) Cook, everybody -- everybody has to do better.
"So we're all going to be that and do that so we can get over that hump and we can be exactly what we want to be and stop talking about it, right? I'm ready for it. It's time. I'm telling you, man, it's kill or be killed, and we're not playing around. We are not playing around with nobody."
Brady helped Allen earn the NFL MVP award in 2024. Allen threw for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns, and ten interceptions last season. He added 579 yards and 14 touchdowns as a runner.
Too often, the Bills have relied on Allen to carry the team to win games. That will still be the case this season, but Buffalo needs more players to step up in the playoffs if they hope to make it to the Super Bowl.
The pressure will be high for everyone on the offense in Buffalo this season.
