BillsRoundtable Podcast Ep 3: Is Buffalo Relying Too Much On Josh Allen? cover image

On this week's episode, we preview Bills-Panthers and discuss how Buffalo can ease Josh Allen's load

Coming out of the bye week, the Buffalo Bills have a tough test ahead of them against the Carolina Panther's No. 7-ranked defense.

That Week 8 matchup will be slightly easier with quarterback Bryce Young officially listed as doubtful for the game. Veteran journeyman Andy Dalton is expected to start in his place.

Michael Gallagher of BillsRoundtable and Anthony Moeglin of Roundtable Sports preview the Bills' Week 8 matchup with the Carolina Panthers and break down why Buffalo relies so much on quarterback Josh Allen plus dive into a whole host of other topics on the latest episode of the BillsRoundtable podcast.

Are the Bills too reliant on MVP quarterback Josh Allen? Pro Football Focus Talk's Chris Simms certainly seems to think so.

“Bills Mafia knows this already — Chris Simms has been critical of their team throughout the year,” Simms recently stated during an appearance on FanDuel TV's "Up & Adams" show. “They’re too Josh Allen-centric, as you see.

“It’s always: Josh Allen, you better score a lot of points so we can get ahead and you can save our defense. You’ve got to make magic happen. We don’t have a superstar receiver who we can frame a game plan around… It’s too much on Josh Allen.”

While Allen has accounted for 70% of the team's offense this season (that number was 69% the year before and 74% the year before that), it's certainly understandable how difficult it is for head coach Sean McDermott to take the ball out of his best player's hands.

On the other side of the coin, with the Bills offense struggling in back-to-back losses to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, should offensive coordinator Joe Brady be on the hot seat if the team has a third straight poor performance against the Panthers?

It's crazy to even ask that question, but it's one that was asked quite a bit over the last week on social media, and as Ken Dorsey can attest, no job is ever truly safe.

Finally, the podcast wraps up with a dive into the impact 2025 first-round pick Maxwell Hairston is expected to have on Buffalo's laboring secondary, and it's asked if the Bills should consider beefing up their defensive line by trading for a proven defensive tackle like Jeffery Simmons.
