With all 32 NFL teams now down to their initial 53-man rosters, over 1,200 players are available on the open market. But just because their journey has hit a speed bump, it doesn't mean their NFL careers are over. Now the focus is on bringing in players who can help the team if needed and who will join the practice squad for the Buffalo Bills.
For hundreds of players, they had to clear waivers before being free to sign with another team. That waiver period ends at 1pm ET on Monday, August 31. After that, news of practice squad additions is expected to come in fast.
For the Bills, there are a number of players they released that they hope to bring back. But there's also likely players let go by other teams that they're sure to be interested in.
NFL practice squads can have up to 16 players, 17 if you sign someone as part of the league's International Pathway Program. Of those 16 or 17 players, six of them can be vested veterans in the league.
For Buffalo, it's expected that the team will sign Travis Clayton back to the practice squad. Clayton was a 7th-round pick for the Bills in 2024 and recently made the switch from offensive line to defensive line.

According to The Buffalo News' Jay Skurski, the team is bringing back veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson to the practice squad.
More reported signings
Though nothing has been confirmed, the following players are reportedly joining the team: WR Trent Sherfield, WR Greg Dortch, WR Stephen Gosnell, OLB Andre Jones Jr., RB Frank Gore Jr., and DB Te'Cory Couch

ESPN Reports WR Ja'Mori Maclin is signing with the practice squad.

CB Kani Walker is signing to the practice squad, per Ryan Talbot.
Chase Lundt & Shane Buechele Return
According to The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, the Bills are signing OL Chase Lundt and QB Shane Buechele.
Travis Clayton is back
According to Syracuse.com's Ryan Talbot, Travis Clayton is signing with the Bills practice squad.
Toriano Pride Jr. Won't Be Back
Despite hopes to keep him on the practice squad, CB Toriano Pride Jr. has been claimed by the Cleveland Browns.
The first signing
According to Jordan Schultz, the Bills are signing Geno Stone to the practice squad. The Bills released Stone on Sunday.
Who the Bills want to bring back
Despite being released on Sunday, Buffalo is interested in signing CB Kani Walker, WR Stephen Gosnell, WR Ja'Mori Maclin, and LB Keonta Jenkins to the practice squad should they all clear waivers. It's also expected that the team will attempt to sign CB Toriano Pride Jr., and one or both of running backs Ian Wheeler and Frank Gore Jr.
