GM Brandon Beane says the Buffalo Bills are evaluating other NFL rosters for potential cuts as they build their 90-man roster following the 2026 draft.
The NFL Draft may have ended on Saturday evening, but the work on building the roster hasn't ended for Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane.
In many ways, it’s just shifting focus.
During an appearance on WGR550-AM in Buffalo on Monday, Beane said the organization has already turned its attention to the next phase of roster building—evaluating not only its own depth chart, but also potential opportunities around the league.
“Right now we’re just kind of looking through our roster,” Beane said. “Where do we think we still want more competition?”
That process extends well beyond One Bills Drive.
As teams across the NFL begin to sort through crowded position groups following the draft, the Bills are keeping a close eye on situations that could create unexpected availability.

“We’ll study other rosters,” Beane said. “Where do we think some teams drafted heavy? Maybe in a spot that we say one of these guys is probably going to get let loose at some point.”
It’s a critical, often overlooked part of the offseason calendar. While draft picks and undrafted free agents dominate headlines, roster cuts in the weeks leading up to training camp can provide valuable depth for teams willing to stay aggressive and take a chance on a player.
For the Bills, it's also about building the strongest possible roster heading into the summer.
“What we’re trying to do between now and minicamp in June is what are the best 90 players that we can take to Rochester,” Beane said.
That means internal competition will continue, but so will external evaluation.
The Bills added 10 rookies through the draft and several others as undrafted free agents, but Beane made it clear there are still moves that could be made. Identifying players who may become available elsewhere is part of that equation.
As the offseason progresses toward rookie minicamp, OTAs and eventually training camp, it's clear that Buffalo’s roster will continue to evolve.
