After weeks of reports and rumors, the Buffalo Bills have announced the full coaching staff who will work under new head coach Joe Brady.
The coordinators of Pete Carmichael Jr. (offense), Jim Leonhard (defense), and Jeff Rodgers (special teams) had been announced a few weeks back. Since then, the team has been reported to be retaining several assistants while looking at both the college ranks and veteran NFL coaches for new additions.
Rumored names of Pat Meyer for the offensive line and Drew Terrell for receivers were two of the bigger names rumored that have now been confirmed. There are also two former Bills coaches returning to the team in John Egorugwu (inside linebackers) and Bobby April III (linebackers).
Egorugwu was with Buffalo from 2018-2020, while April III was with the Bills under Rex Ryan from 2015-16. April III is also the son of former Bills special teams coordinator Bobby April Jr., who was in Buffalo from 2004-2009.
One name that wasn't mentioned but comes over as a senior assistant coach is John Fox. Yes, that John Fox. The 71-year-old Fox joins the Bills after taking the last two years off from coaching.
Before that, he most recently worked as a senior defensive assistant for the Detroit Lions in 2023. As a head coach, Fox reached the Super Bowl twice—once with Carolina, once with Denver—but failed to win in either appearance. His last head coaching job was from 2015-2017 with the Chicago Bears.
Fox's hiring is likely to help Brady adjust to what it takes to be an NFL head coach.
You can check out the full list of positional coaches and assistants below. Any coach returning from last season is marked with an asterisk.
Of course, while these are the list of assistants now, the Bills could always decide to add more to the staff as the offseason continues.
