Undrafted fan favorite Kani Walker joins the active roster as secondary depth, providing vital insurance against the Patriots while star cornerback Christian Benford battles a lingering toe injury.

The Buffalo Bills have made a key roster decision ahead of their matchup against the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

Announced on Saturday, the Bills have elevated defensive back Te’Cory Couch and preseason hero cornerback Kani Walker for Week 4.

It's Couch's second-straight elevation, meaning Buffalo has just one left before they have to make a roster decision on his future. For Walker, it's the first call up for the 2026 undrafted free agent out of Arkansas.

Walker became a fan favorite during training camp and the preseason with the Bills. In three preseason games, Walker had four total tackles (three solo), two pass defenses, and one interception. It wasn't just the stats that stood out, Walker looked comfortable in every situation the Bills put him in.

Even when he was a final roster cut at the start of the regular season, it was a surprise to me that he wasn't kept. Luckily for the Bills, however, he made it through waivers and was brought back immediately to the practice squad.

With both being called up, it makes number one cornerback Christian Benford's status for Sunday even more uncertain. The sixth-year corner was officially listed as questionable with the toe injury he suffered against the Chargers last week.

If I were to venture a guess, it likely comes down to how Benford looks in warmups. He'll give it a try, and if he can go, he will. Having the two callups gives Buffalo insurance should he not be able to play or play and not finish the game.

Elsewhere In Bills News

Elsewhere for the Bills, the team enters Sunday as heavy favorites and with Josh Allen close to setting yet another Buffalo franchise record. If Allen scores either a rushing or receiving touchdown against New England, he'll move to 88 for his career. That would put him alone at the top for the most touchdowns in Bills history, passing Hall of Famers Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed.

That's not all. The team has also extended special teams contributor Joe Andreessen for two years at $5 million.
