The Minnesota Vikings have requested to interview assistant GM Terrance Gray. His potential departure could net Buffalo critical draft compensation while continuing the franchise's trend of developing executive talent.
The Buffalo Bills are no secret to seeing members of the organization hired to jobs on other teams. The team has seen its fair share of front office members join other organizations, such as Joe Schoen in New York and Dan Morgan in Carolina.
And now, another key front office contributor could be moving on to a bigger role with a new team.
NFL Media's Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings have requested permission to interview Bills assistant general manager (GM) Terrance Gray for their open GM role.
Gray joined the Bills in 2017 when Brandon Beane took over as GM. He became the team's director of player personnel in 2022 before moving into the assistant GM role in 2025.

Prior to joining Buffalo, Gray spent 11 seasons with Minnesota as a scout. In addition to working in Minnesota, he also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Gray interviewing for open GM spots is nothing new. In 2024, he interviewed for the Los Angeles Chargers, while, in 2025, he spoke with the Tennessee Titans.
Should Gray be hired by the Vikings, it would be the fourth assistant GM to be hired by another team. The aforementioned Joe Schoen was hired as the New York Giants GM, Morgan is the president of football operations and GM with the Panthers, and Brian Gaine was hired as the GM of the Houston Texans.
Gaine, however, has since returned to the Bills as an assistant GM. That means the Bills wouldn't necessarily need to look for another assistant GM if Gray leaves.
There's also a bit about compensation. If the Vikings hire Gray, Buffalo will be entitled to multiple draft picks. With Gray being a minority candidate, the Bills would receive a compensatory third-round pick in both the 2027 and 2028 NFL Drafts.
