Fresh off the heels of their first road playoff win in 33 years, the Buffalo Bills are starting to prepare for a trip to Denver to face the Broncos on Saturday.
While the team didn’t practice on Monday, head coach Sean McDermott took part in his traditional afternoon media session to answer questions on give updates on the team. Of those updates came more information on the current list of injuries facing the team.
Starting with the players who left the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, McDermott said that Gabe Davis will be out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL. Jordan Poyer, who left with the same hamstring injury that has bothered him for a few weeks now, is be week-to-week and won’t play in Denver.
Elsewhere, most players came out fine, albeit banged up. Josh Allen is said to be sore after being evaluated for both a concussion and a knee injury. McDermott told the media that Allen will “do whatever it takes to play”.
Dalton Kincaid, who was seen in a boot, should be fine. McDermott called the boot “precautionary”.
The key players who missed the Jaguars game—Maxwell Hairston, Terrel Bernard, and Ty Johnson—are all “improving” and the team will “see where it goes”. He also added that Damar Hamlin had a good first week of practice during his window, and they’ll also see where it goes.
Lastly, on the return front, McDermott revealed that both Curtis Samuel and Ed Oliver will return to practice this week. Oliver has been out since October with a torn bicep followed by needing a meniscus cleanup procedure. Samuel was placed on IR in November due to an elbow injury.
Whether or not they play this weekend will be determined by how they practice. Should they be able to go, it'll provide a boost to a team that has continued to deal with its fair share of injuries.
If Samuel, especially, can't play, Buffalo will likely need to call up Mecole Hardman from the practice squad to fill the spot lost by Davis as well as Joshua Palmer. It could be expected that Keon Coleman might also get a larger role.
