Buffalo's top target sidelined by a persistent shoulder injury headlines a depleted roster as the Bills lean on rookie Skyler Bell to fill the void against Los Angeles.

For the first time in his career, wide receiver DJ Moore is going to miss a game due to injury. The Buffalo Bills confirmed on Monday evening that their number one receiver will be inactive when the team takes on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.

It's just the third game Moore will miss in his career. The first was due to being placed on the Covid list in 2020, while the second came via coach's decision in the final week of the 2019 season.

Moore has been hampered by a shoulder injury he suffered against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Since then, he's played, but in clear discomfort. It got to the point against the New England Patriots last week that Moore ultimately left the game and didn't return.

Now, he'll get a chance to rest for at least a week to get right.

In his absence, the Bills will rely on Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir to step up at the position. With both Moore and Joshua Palmer (shoulder) out, rookie receiver Skyler Bell will make his season debut along with practice squad call up Trent Sherfield Sr.

It's not just Moore and Palmer on the inactives list. Joining the two receivers on Monday are defensive lineman Ed Oliver, who was confirmed to be out on Saturday with a knee injury. Cornerback Dee Alford, offensive linemen Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Jude Bowry, and defensive lineman Landon Jackson are all out against the Rams.

With Alford out, cornerback Anthony Kendell, who was signed to the active roster just before the rosters were due, will suit up in his absence.  Rookie Jalon Kilgore is also set to make his NFL debut on Monday. The fifth-round pick out of South Carolina had been impressive in training camp, but hadn't gotten his chance to play through four weeks. That chance comes against the Rams.

On the Rams side of things, WR CJ Daniels, QB Ty Simpson, TE Max Klare, DE Larrell Murchison, and OL Bill Murray are inactive. DT Aaron Donald will play while DE Myles Garrett remains on injured reserve.

The Bills and Rams kick off at 8:15pm ET on ESPN and ABC. Bills Roundtable will have full coverage during and after the game.
