Former head coach Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills has made his prediction for the upcoming Super Bowl.
Sean McDermott was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills for nine years before he was let go after the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Under McDermott, Buffalo saw all sorts of success, winning multiple AFC East titles. But the team just couldn't get over the hump to reach the Super Bowl.
McDermott held a record of 98-50 during the regular season, with an 8-8 record in the playoffs. He took Buffalo to the AFC Championship Game twice during his tenure, but the team kept falling short.
This was ultimately what caused McDermott to be let go, but there doesn't seem to be any ill will. The former coach has been taking his time to see what's next in his football career, while keeping close tabs on his former team.
McDermott appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, discussing his former team. Within, the former coach predicted the Bills would reach the Super Bowl this coming season.
"Now, with what they've done, the moves that Brandon Beane has made, and the activity that they've had on the roster, just over the x-amount of months, I think has been very important. So I think if you're betting on a Super Bowl contender, they are certainly one of them. I don't see why you wouldn't bet on them because the games, at the end of the day, have to be played…could be Bills-Rams; that would be a great Super Bowl," McDermott said.
Buffalo is seen by many as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, partly due to the new coaching staff in place. Joe Brady replaces McDermott as the head coach, bringing new energy into the building.
While McDermott didn't do anything wrong while with the Bills, sometimes a new voice is needed within a locker room. Brady could be the missing piece to the puzzle, but McDermott did establish the culture that the Bills currently have.
If Buffalo does get to the Super Bowl this season, McDermott's fingerprints will be all over the team. The Bills went from being a bottom-dwelling franchise before McDermott to making the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons with the team.
But it was time for a change in Buffalo. The Bills will come into the season with high expectations, but they have the roster to win it all.
Quarterback Josh Allen remains under center, and he will be looking to finally add a title to his incredible resume. But only time will tell if the Bills can actually get to the big game, and if they do, McDermott will likely be rooting for them to win it all.
