Drew Brees lauds the Buffalo Bills star's evolution from a raw scrambler into a complete passer, establishing the gold standard for today’s dual-threat playmakers across the NFL.

Josh Allen is the quarterback young players should look to emulate.

In a recent interview with Covers.com, soon-to-be Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees was asked about the Buffalo Bills' franchise player. The Super Bowl champion said that what's impressed him most about Allen is how he's improved since coming into the league in 2018.

"When you saw Josh early in his career, he'd run around a lot," Brees said. "It was just kind of wheeling and dealing.

"Josh is one of the most complete quarterbacks out there now, as far as his ability to get the ball out of his hands in the short-intermediate passing game. Certainly one of the best deep ball throwers, certainly one of the best scramblers, and just designed QB runs."

Brees then said that Allen is one of the quarterbacks who's created the "blueprint" for future players in the league, along with other top AFC signal callers.

"I think Josh Allen's created a bit of the blueprint for this generation of quarterbacks," he said. "He and Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, the guys that are super mobile but can throw the ball effectively as well."

Allen enters his ninth season as arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. He's a former MVP and holds records for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, the only player to throw and rush for three touchdowns in a single game twice, most games with three passing and one rushing touchdown, most games with three passing and two rushing touchdowns, and is the youngest player to reach 300 career touchdowns.

This year, the 30-year-old Allen is getting close to breaking a number of Bills franchise records. With 18 touchdown passes this year, Allen will become the franchise leader, passing Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.

Of course, the big accomplishment missing from Allen's eventual Hall of Fame resume is a Super Bowl. With a new head coach in Joe Brady and several new roster additions, many hope that this is the year Allen finally gets the Bills to where they expect to be.
