James Cook Highlights "New Energy" In Buffalo Bills Locker Room

It's no secret just how big the 2026 season is for the Buffalo Bills.

The team is coming off another heartbreaking playoff loss that resulted in the firing of long-time head coach Sean McDermott. And now, with its starting quarterback entering his ninth season and a new head coach in Joe Brady, there is pressure to finally get to the Super Bowl after years of disappointing finishes.

Even with that pressure, the team doesn't seem to be letting it get to them. 

Speaking with Good Morning Football on Tuesday, Bills running back James Cook spoke about what it's like with Brady running the show this year. 

"I mean, it’s just a new energy in the building," he said. "It’s going to always be like that, I feel like, when you have a new head coach coming in. A young one, too, at that. I mean, Joe’s a young head coach coming in, his first year being a head coach. I mean, he’s got a new energy. That’s what I feel like."

Cook added that despite the new role in the organization, Brady hasn't changed much in how he interacts with the players.

"I mean, to me, nothing has changed," he said. "Joe's going to be Joe, and he's going to be himself. He just wants you to play football and have fun."

Cook is coming off a season that saw him lead the NFL in rushing with 1,621 yards while running the ball over 300 times. Heading into this season, Cook says that what he accomplished last season doesn't matter. Still, it's something he'd like to repeat.

"I tell everybody, it's over now," he said. "I just flip the page, and let's try and go do it again."

The Bills head to St. John Fisher University at the end of the month for training camp, with the first practice scheduled for July 29.
