Facing a pivotal make-or-break season in Buffalo, the wide receiver is blocking out the noise and training with franchise legends to finally unlock his elite physical potential.
Keon Coleman isn't letting outside criticism bother him.
After two up-and-down years that saw him benched at the start of games, scratched for multiple weeks, and even have a slight role reduction, the 23-year-old wide receiver is heading into a pivotal season with the Buffalo Bills. So much so that he's even referred to it as "make-or-break".
But despite all the outside noise about him, Coleman says he's not letting it get to him.
"None of them going to come lace them up and try to stand in front of me," Coleman said via ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. "People are going to say what they want to say. At the end of the day, my job is to come out here, put my cleats on, strap them up and prove my worth here."
In two seasons, Coleman has 67 catches for 960 yards and eight touchdowns. Okay numbers, but not what the Bills drafted him to do.
This offseason, in order to get to where Buffalo needs him to be, Coleman has been working with former Bills receiver Stevie Johnson. Johnson, who's been working with players since retiring from the NFL, has had nothing but praise for Coleman's work ethic and the type of receiver he can become.
"He can be the best," Johnson said recently. "He can be considered one of the best because he has every tool. He’s got the height, he’s got the size, he’s got the speed."
Whether Coleman can turn around his career for the Bills remains to be seen. But there's no denying that an effort is being made.
"It's time to put it all together," Coleman said. "[Outside comments] I don't really care to hear them. It's time for me to just put it out there on the field."
