Joe Brady is officially the 21st head coach in the history of the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills made the announcement on Tuesday, revealing that Brady has signed a five-year contract with the team. And while his hiring comes after what General Manager Brandon Beane called a "100% open" process, it left fans feeling a big mixed about why he was choice.
Brady, to many, represents a continuation of what the team already had. What they had, was a team that could only get so far under the past staff.
It's left a number of fans skeptical about what Buffalo's plans really are.
Here are some of the reactions making their rounds on social media after the news.
If you're browsing through social media on Tuesday, it might be hard to find many people excited about Brady being named the Bills head coach. From local media to fans, it seems like the consensus was that there were better options.
"They were getting through interviews and realized only one man also worked for Carolina and they just had to do that," WGR550 radio host Nate Geary said.
"Walking into the locker room and feeling you hit proverbial wall and wanting to make a change based on the feelings in that locker room then keeping the same GM and an in house coaching promotion doesn’t give me a lot of hope. Seems jury safe and lazy. I’ll hope for the best," Brother Bill wrote.
"I hope I am wrong, but I feel promoting Joe Brady is a brutal decision," Matt Kopnak said.
Lastly, another WGR550 host, Jeremy White, changed his focus on why the decision was made.
"Pivoting to "He was controlled by McDermott and really WANTs to have a real passing game" with every bit of my heart," he said.
To find a bit of positivity from the fan base, you really had to did. But there was at least one person who thinks this could be a good move.
"Joe Brady is a much better coach than the majority of Bills fans give him credit for," Mike Bundt wrote. "He was once considered one of the brightest young offensive minds in football and a rising coaching star...Let’s give him a chance and see what he can do running things his way!"
The decision has been made, and Buffalo is moving forward with Brady. Now comes building a staff while General Manager/President of Football Operations Brandon Beane alters a roster that needs a lot of work to remain competitive in 2026.
This offseason just got more interesting in Western New York.
