The Buffalo Bills have found there guy as reports suggest Joe Brady will be the next head coach of the team.

UPDATE 12:30PM ET: The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that Joe Brady has signed a five-year contract to be the Bills head coach.

ORIGINAL: The Buffalo Bills have seemingly found their man. According to Ian Rapoport, the Bills are set to name Joe Brady as the 21st head coach in franchise history.

As of writing, the move has yet to be officially announced by the organization.

Brady's hiring comes after the team interviewed a number of candidates for the job. Some of the names include Brian Daboll, Anthony Lynn, Philip Rivers, Anthony Weaver, and more.

In the end, it appears that the team preferred to promote from within and keep one of their own.

Why Joe Brady For Head Coach?

Brady has spent the last four seasons with the Bills, including the last two and a half as offensive coordinator. During his time in Buffalo, his offensives have ranked in the top 10 in yards and top 5 in points.

In 2025, Brady guided the Bills to the number one rushing offense in terms of attempts, yards, and touchdown. On the other side of the spectrum, however, the Bills passing offense remains a question as the team hasn't had a 1,000-yard receiver during Brady's two full seasons as coordinator.

Whether that was a product of Brady's system or the philosophy of former head coach Sean McDermott will certainly be addressed on the field next season. It also depends on who Josh Allen, who won his first and only MVP under Brady in 2024, has to throw the ball to moving forward.

Brady's Rise To Prominence

Prior to joining the Bills, Brady was the offensive coordinator for two years with the Carolina Panthers from 2020-2021. In 2019, he was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for the national champion LSU Tigers.

With Brady being promoted to head coach, the next steps will be rounding out the staff. The team will have to hire new offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinators as well as position coaches.

While the plans are currently unknown, there is the possibility that the team brings in some of the names they interviewed for the head coach position as coordinator.
