As the Buffalo Bills continue to search for their next head coach, one future Hall of Fame coach won't be among the candidates.

The Buffalo Bills are looking for the 21st head coach in team history. And while the candidate list is quite extensive, there's one name that you won't find on it at all.

According to a recent report, the Bills have reportedly zero interest in former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio said that a source with knowledge of the team's hiring plans claims the Bills aren't interested in the six-time Super Bowl champion. While coaching searches can always change, the report suggests Belichick simply is not part of Buffalo’s thinking as it goes through a critical offseason.

Belichick spent 24 years with the Patriots, going 266-121 with the aforementioned six Super Bowl wins. Against Buffalo, Belichick went 37-12 against Buffalo, including a run of winning 21 out of 22 from 2003-2014.

Belichick left the Patriots after the 2023 season. He would take a year off before being hired as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. In his first season in Chapel Hill, Belichick went 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the ACC.

Despite no plans to talk to Belichick, the Bills have a long list of candidates for their head coaching spot. It's ranged from former staff members to long-time coordinators, and doesn't appear close to coming to an end.

No matter the decision the Bills make, they are heading into a pivotal season for the franchise. Quarterback Josh Allen turns 30 years old in May, and has yet to make it past the AFC Championship game. There are also concerns surrounding the capability of the roster to win games in mid-to-late January.

The team fired long-time coach Sean McDermott due to repeated failures to get the team to the Super Bowl. And whether owner Terry Pegula and General Manger/President of Football Operations Brandon Beane want to admit it, there will be the pressure of reaching the Super Bowl in year one for whomever takes on the job.
