Former Colts cornerback Kenny Moore is now a free agent after his release from Indianapolis. Could the veteran slot corner make sense for the Buffalo Bills?
The Buffalo Bills appear comfortable with their cornerback room heading into the 2026 season, but a newly available veteran could still make for an interesting conversation.
Former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II was released this week after the team failed to find a trade partner, instantly making one of the NFL’s most experienced slot corners available on the open market.
Whether Buffalo actually pursues him remains to be seen, but the fit at least makes some sense on paper.
The Bills already have Christian Benford and rookie Maxwell Hairston projected as their starting outside corners, while rookie Davison Igbinosun provides additional depth on the boundary. Inside, Buffalo added Dee Alford earlier this offseason to help solidify the nickel role after trading Taron Johnson to Las Vegas.
Still, the Bills learned last season just how quickly cornerback depth can become an issue.
Injuries throughout the secondary forced Buffalo to shuffle defensive backs in and out of the lineup during key stretches of the season, and it became clear late in the year that the team could never truly have too many capable corners on the roster.
That is where a player like Moore becomes intriguing.
The soon-to-be 31-year-old spent nine seasons with the Colts after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017. During his time in Indianapolis, he developed into one of the better slot corners in football and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.
Moore’s career numbers stand out, especially for a nickel corner. In 132 career games, he has totaled 649 tackles, 21 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, 68 passes defended and six forced fumbles.
Even as he has gotten older, Moore has continued to produce. In 2024, he finished with 78 tackles and three interceptions in 15 games. That was followed up in 2025 with 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and another interception.
What could make Moore especially appealing is his versatility. Although primarily a slot corner, he has consistently been one of the better run-defending defensive backs in the league while also bringing blitz ability and veteran leadership to the secondary.
The question for Buffalo may simply come down to priorities.
The Bills still appear more likely to focus on adding depth along the defensive line if they continue exploring the veteran market. Buffalo invested heavily in its secondary already this offseason, and with younger players expected to compete for roster spots, the team may prefer to see what it already has in-house before adding another veteran defensive back.
Still, Moore’s résumé and experience make him a player worth monitoring.
