The Buffalo Bills have a decision to make on guard O'Cyrus Torrence.
Since being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Torrence has been one of Buffalo's best and most reliable offensive linemen. He's been a starter since his rookie season, and has played in every game, both regular season and playoffs.
Entering his fourth season and the final year of his rookie contract, Torrence is eligible for an extension. It's something that general manager Brandon Beane has talked about wanting in the past but mentioned making "the economics work".
And now, an idea of what those economics could be has become a bit clearer.
On Monday, the New York Jets signed guard Joe Tippmann to a four-year, $66.4 million contract extension. The deal also includes $34.9 million in guaranteed money.
Tippmann was drafted in the same round of the same draft as Torrence, and has also become one of the bright spots on a Jets team that hasn't had many over the years.
With Torrence, there's no doubt his agents will use this contract as a point of discussion when negotiating with the Bills.
The 26-year-old is coming off a season where he allowed a pressure rate of 5% and 3 sacks. However, aside from the three sacks, he allowed zero QB hits and had just one penalty.
For comparison purposes, Tippmann had a 4.5% pressure rate in 2025 while allowing six sacks and five QB hits. He also had seven penalties.
With Tippmann's deal done, the Bills are looking at a second contract for Torrence ranging in the $16-$17 million per year range. That would place him the top 15 at his position in terms of annual average salary, but far behind the top 5, where the average salary is over $20 million.
Should the Bills let Torrence get close to Free Agency, or even just play out most, if not all, of the season without a deal, that contract could be closer to the $20 million mark.
It'll all come down to how much Beane and the organization value Torrence, and if the former Florida Gator wants to continue to call Buffalo home.
