The 2025 season was one of the roughest of Josh Allen's entire career. The Buffalo Bills franchise quarterback was banged up throughout the year, but the worst came later in the season.
Against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16, Allen took a sack after scrambling around. He took a minute to get up and hobbled around a bit before continuing to play. While it was clear that something was wrong, no one really knew exactly the extent of it. Until recently.
Allen had broken his foot that, as everyone learned after the loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round, required surgery to fix.
Speaking with the media on Thursday, Allen spoke about the injury and how long he'd been suffering.
"Not to get into the weeds of it, but it's been an older injury," he said while mentioning it was his fifth metatarsal in his foot. "[I] just re-aggravated it there and just a little ticked off at me."
Allen said the injury wasn't an "ideal situation" and that it was "painful throughout the weeks."
However, even with the injury, Allen was adamant that he would've continued to play throuigh it had the Bills still been alive.
"I'm not even lying, if we had to play a game this week, I would figure it out to play a game," he said. "It's a little painful right now, but it wasn't a crazy surgery."
Allen added that it wouldn't be "too long" before he'd be off the crutches and resuming normal activities. By OTAs and minicamps, Allen expects to be fully ready to go.
"It shouldn't hinder anything," he said.
Allen's comments came after he didn't speak to the media following Buffalo's loss to the Broncos. Reports had surfaced in the days following the season and Sean McDermott's firing that Allen would speak after the head coaching search ended.
With Joe Brady being formally introduced as head coach on Thursday, Allen took to the podium to talk about the season that was and where things go from here.
Priority one, as far as football is concerned, is getting healthy.
