Unpacking AJ Epenesa's departure and Ryan Van Demark's future. Plus, are the Bills' wide receiver and linebacker corps truly Super Bowl ready?
Two episodes in one week? That's right! It's time for another episode of the Buffalo Bills Roundtable Podcast.
After hosts Mike Straw and Anthony Moeglin discussed the moves the Bills made in Episode 22, now comes the time to discuss what they still need to do.
First things first, however. Buffalo has lost a six-year veteran to the Cleveland Browns in AJ Epenesa, but does it really hurt the team? And how much do they need to keep Ryan Van Demark after he signed an offer sheet with the Minnesota Vikings?
Buffalo Still Has Holes To Fill
As of writing, the Bills have the best odds in the AFC to win the Super Bowl next season. But are they really that good a team?
Sure, they made the splash trade for DJ Moore at wide receiver, which brings Josh Allen a true number-one target. And, of course, they added a lot of new pieces to the defensive backfield. But is that all really enough to get them further than an AFC Championship game?
Straw and Mogelin talk about who else could come in at the wide receiver position and fight for a roster spot.
What about on defense? Are the Bills really going to go into the season with Terrell Bernard and Dorian Williams as their starting linebackers? And should they add somebody else to the defensive line? Maybe a true nose tackle for Jim Leonhard's new 3-4 scheme?
Players like D.J. Reader, Shaq Thompson, and Jadeveon Clowney are available. Do any of them make sense at this point in their careers for Buffalo? If so, would any actually want to come to the Bills under a first-time defensive coordinator?
There's a lot to unpack, so let's talk about it.
