Sean McDermott has been fired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, and Mike Straw and Anthony Moeglin talk about that and what the future holds for the Bills on Episode 15 of the Buffalo Bills Roundtable Podcast

The Buffalo Bills are heading into a new era for the franchise.

After becoming one of the model franchises in the NFL over the last nine years, the Bills are facing a number of questions after firing Sean McDermott as head coach. Not only do they have to figure out who the best person is to lead the way into the future, but they have to explain why it was only McDermott who was shown the door after another disappointing end to the season.

Both Owner Terry Pegula and General Manager/President of Football Operations Brandon Beane spoke on Wednesday about the decision and other areas of the franchise. To say the franchise came out looking worse than it did going into the press conference.

Pegula said he made the decision to fire McDermott based on the loss to Denver while still believing that Brandin Cooks made the catch that wasn't. He also threw McDermott and the coaching staff under the bus for the selection of wide receiver Keon Coleman, a point that Beane himself had to clarify later on in the conference.

Also, where does franchise quarterback Josh Allen sit in all of this? He didn't find out about the firing until after it had happened, with the players finding out about it through the media. What does his future look like with the Bills or elsewhere?

And through all this, who are the best candidates to be the next head coach? Despite what Pegula and Beane say, is it truly a Super Bowl or bust season in 2026, knowing Allen is going to be 30 in May?
