From quarterback instability to a rookie linebacker threatening the starting lineup, training camp has shifted the depth chart. See which surprises emerge in this updated roster projection.
Training Camp, at least the portion in Rochester at St. John Fisher University, is over for the Buffalo Bills. That means it's time to take another look at the roster and see who's made an impact and who has to do more to stick around.
While most of the roster is set, there are still some big questions to answer. The backup quarterback battle between Kyle Allen and Shane Buechele has been interesting, to say the least. Neither player has truly taken the job, and there are questions about whether either should be the man behind Josh Allen.
Elsewhere, rookie linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr continues to turn heads in camp. With a strong preseason performance, he could take away the opening-week starting job from Dorian Williams.
But what about the rest of the roster under first-year head coach Joe Brady?
This projection is based on where things stand as of August 10. Injuries, preseason performances, and unexpected breakout players will undoubtedly change the picture before roster cutdown day arrives.
Without any more delay, here's the latest look at how I believe the Bills' 53-man roster is shaking out. You can also check our pre-training camp predictions for an idea of how things have changed.
Buffalo Bills Post-Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projections
Quarterback (2): Josh Allen, Shane Buechele
Note: I truly believe that Buffalo's backup quarterback isn't on the roster. While Shane Buechele has been better of late, it hasn't been a good showing for the backup quarterbacks. Buechele makes it to start, but I could see the Bills looking around.
Running Back (3): James Cook, Ray Davis, Ty Johnson
Wide Receiver (6): DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Skyler Bell, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Mecole Hardman Jr., Tyrell Shavers (PUP/IR)
Tight End (3): Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, Jackson Hawes
Offensive Line (10): Dion Dawkins, Spencer Brown, O'Cyrus Torrence, Connor McGovern, Alec Anderson, Jude Bowry, Austin Corbett, Lloyd Cushenberry III, Sedrick Van-Pan Granger, Tylan Grable
Defensive Line (6): Ed Oliver, Deone Walker, Landon Jackson, TJ Sanders, Zane Durant, Phidarian Mathis
Linebacker (10): Gregory Rousseau, Bradley Chubb, Terrel Bernard, Michael Hoecht, Dorian Williams, TJ Parker, Kaleb Elarms-Orr, Joe Andreessen, Javon Solomon, Mike Danna
Cornerback (5): Christian Benford, Maxwell Hairston, Davison Igbinosun, Dee Alford, Jordan Hancock
Safety (5): C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Cole Bishop, Jalen Kilgore, Geno Stone, Sam Franklin Jr.
Specialists (3): Tyler Bass, Tommy Doman Jr., Reid Ferguson
