Jonah Coleman is dealing with a sprained ankle as the Broncos navigate injuries to all three of their top running backs ahead of Week 3.
The Denver Broncos have another injury to deal with in a suddenly banged-up backfield.
Rookie running back Jonah Coleman is dealing with a sprained ankle he suffered during Sunday's 20-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Coleman's status for Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams is uncertain.
The news comes just days after Coleman delivered the best performance of his young career while Denver was already dealing with injuries to J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey.
Coleman rushed for 39 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown on 10 carries against Jacksonville while adding three catches for 19 yards. His performance earned him a nomination for NFL Rookie of the Week.
The rookie's ppportunity grew after Harvey was ruled out with a hamstring injury and Dobbins suffered a hamstring injury during the game.
More encouraging news came Wednesday for both players.
Schefter reported that Harvey continues to make progress in his recovery, while Denver received good news regarding Dobbins' hamstring injury. Dobbins is expected to practice this week.
Harvey was listed as questionable before ultimately missing the Jacksonville game after being limited in practice Thursday and Friday.
The injuries leave Denver with plenty to sort out as it begins preparations for the Rams.
Now Coleman joins Dobbins and Harvey on the injury list just days after taking advantage of his expanded role.
Denver should have a clearer picture of its backfield as the practice week progresses, but for now, all three of its top running backs are working through injuries ahead of Sunday night's game.
