Broncos rookie Jonah Coleman has been nominated for NFL Rookie of the Week after scoring his first career touchdown in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
Jonah Coleman's breakout performance has earned the Denver Broncos rookie some league-wide recognition.
Coleman was named one of four nominees for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after helping Denver rally for a 20-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The fourth-round pick out of the University of Washington recorded 58 yards from scrimmage and scored the first touchdown of his NFL career, a 3-yard run that gave Denver its first lead of the game in the fourth quarter.
Coleman finished with 39 yards on 10 carries while adding three receptions for 19 yards. He also picked up 33 yards on Denver's final possession as the Broncos ran out the clock to secure the victory.
"He played well," Broncos coach Sean Payton said after the game. "He came up big and we needed it."
Coleman's performance came with Denver's backfield dealing with injuries. RJ Harvey was inactive against Jacksonville with a hamstring injury, while J.K. Dobbins left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return.
The rookie made the most of his increased opportunity.
After scoring his first NFL touchdown, Coleman celebrated with the "Mile High Salute" made famous by Broncos Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis.
Coleman later explained that the celebration was intentional and said he had spoken with Davis previously.
"You just have to pay respect to the guys that came before you," Coleman said.
Coleman also said Davis is "one of the best to ever do it" and that honoring players who came before him was important because he was playing for something bigger than himself.
Denver selected Coleman with the No. 108 overall pick in the fourth round of April's NFL draft after he spent his final two college seasons at Washington.
Coleman rushed for 3,052 yards and 34 touchdowns during four college seasons split between Arizona and Washington. He led Washington with 758 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in 2025.
Coleman is competing with Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Hezekiah Masses, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Josiah Trotter for the weekly honor.
