The Denver Broncos have signed cornerback Sam Webb to add depth going into training camp.

The Denver Broncos announced the signing of a new cornerback as they add depth to their roster, with Sam Webb joining the team after working out with the Broncos on Thursday, according to a report from Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

There’s another move associated with this, per Alper. Rookie cornerback Blake Cotton told Chris Tomasson of the Colorado Springs Gazette that he is being waived with an injury settlement.

Webb played in seven game for the Cleveland Browns last season, and he had eight tackles and a 47-yard fumble return for a touchdown in seven games with the Browns. Before that he played in 28 games forthe Las Vegas Raiders over the 2022 and 2024 seasons, and he had 37 tackles for the Raiders during that time.

He also played one game for the Carolina Panthers back in 2023, and he also had a stop with the Tennessee Titans in 2025, although he didn’t appear in any game action with Tennessee.

Webb is one of those small-college types the Broncos especially seem to love. The Missouri native started his college career at Missouri Western State University, and Webb played there from 2016-2021. He worked his way up to become a starter, then a standout, and in 2021 he earned first-team All-MIAA honors.

His physical profile also fits the Broncos' preferences. At 6’, 200 pounds, he is considered long and athletic, and those measurables helped Webb get a chance despite his background playing Division II.

His performance at the 2022 NFL combine helped him make the roster as an undrafted free agent, as Webb posted a 4.48-second time in the 40-yard dash. The cornerback caught on with the Raiders that year, and he also had three passes defended in addition to a forced fumble as he played in all 17 games.

Webb has a reputation as a physical, athletic outside corner rather than a finesse-based cover specialist, and he has excellent straight-line speed. He’s played on special teams before, so Webb could get a chance to carve out a dual role in Denver.

His big weakness to date is inconsistency, and he’ll get a chance to put that behind him in Denver. Webb was known as the kind of player who could excel in coverage during one series, then make a mental error in the next. He’s also been ousted by teams that have excellent depth at the position, and he’ll have a challenge on his hands trying to make the Broncos roster.
