The Denver Broncos are finally beginning their training camp for the 2026-27 season, and there is plenty to watch out for.
Before the 2026-2027 NFL season has even begun, the disrespect for quarterback No Nix has already started.
Mike kicks off this week's episode with the recent CBS Sports ranking in which the QB was dubbed 'overrated' by CBS Sports' Garrett Podell.
Nix was one of the three QB's listed as an overrated player, joining Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield. Whether the list was an actual ranking or a recipe to stir the pot, our trio does not take the disrespect lightly.
Eric comes to Nix's defense, noting that a lot was asked of the second-year QB last season, and the 26-year-old was still able to lead the Broncos to an AFC West Title.
Then, Eric mentions how crucial the upcoming season will be for the third-year QB to silence the critics as he comes back from an ankle injury with a revamped offense that's ready to take on the rest of the NFL. Should things go Nix's way this season, Eric thinks the 'overrated' narrative will finally be put to rest.
While there are many battles to watch in training camp in the coming weeks, Mike segways into a legal battle that is captivating Denver's fans as well. Outside linebacker Jonathan Cooper's legal battle continues, with his arraignment set for Aug. 31. The charges stem from a domestic violence allegation with his girlfriend, though no verdict has been reached yet.
The issue with his ongoing legal battle is the date by which it will be settled, as his arraignment is just two weeks before the regular season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. If the case goes to trial, it will likely go deep into the regular season.
All this is to say that Cooper's future with the Broncos is very much up in the air, with both sides effectively waiting on the other to determine how to proceed. However, Denver has reportedly allowed Cooper to participate in training camp despite the ongoing DV case.
The remainder of this week's show covers many of the other trending topics to watch out for in the Broncos' training camp, with our trio discussing some names that could possibly make the 53-man roster, positional battles to keep an eye on and the many wide receivers looking to earn their spot on the roster.
