Former Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is in all sorts of hot water based on some nasty financial allegations.
Former Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow made a celebratory return to Denver for the Broncos’ home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he now finds himself immersed in a financial scandal after reports surfaced that his Christian organization is being accused of predatory sales tactics, with the reports coming from the Associated Press, The Athletic, the Denver Post and other outlets.
Tebow planted the alumni flag before the Broncos’ 20-13 win over the Jags, but he turned up in an episode of “Pablo Torre Finds Out,” which is a place no sports figure wants to be these days. According to Matt Moret of The Athletic, the Life Surge Christian group that Tebow has been doing speaking engagements for has pressured people to hand over thousands of dollars for financial advice that didn’t pay off.
Tebow responded by saying the allegations are “extremely, extremely seriously,” and he’s “pausing” his relationships with Life Surge while he has his team do its own investigation.
The translation here is that Tebow is backpedaling as fast as he can, and this isn’t a five- or a seven-step drop. It’s a full-blown retreat, as Tebow has used his squeaky-clean Christian image to help build a lucrative second career after mostly flunking out as an NFL quarterback.
The Life Surge course cost upwards of $20,000, per The Athletic, and the group reportedly urges those who can’t afford them to borrow thousands of dollars from third-party lenders. Both Torre and Mother Jones spoke to several people who said they saw little or no return on their investment.
Additional sources say were put under intense pressure to make life-altering financial decisions, with one Life Surge staffer telling them that “the devil” was behind their doubts. Life Surge has denied the allegations.
Mother Jones also reported that Tebow spoke at a total of 20 Life Surge events in 2024 and 2025, and he’s on track to speak at another 20 this year.
Tebow added that he was “caught off guard” by the allegations, which seems unlikely given the level of his involvement. He’ll likely cut ties with Life Surge, then lay low for a while until he can come up with another business schtick based on his hero Christian QB image.
The report puts the Broncos in a tough spot as well, as they’re currently engaged in negotiations with multiple community groups to help fund their Burnham Yards stadium project. It remains to be seen if the blowback from this will affect funding for the new stadium.
