The Denver Broncos came up short against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, but there are still some silver linings in the 24-14 loss.

The Denver Broncos' hopes of returning to the top of the AFC are slowly diminishing.

In what began as an exciting campaign where Denver strengthened its roster, the Broncos have continued to fall short of expectations in this young NFL season.

Last Sunday, the team came up short against the San Francisco 49ers, 24-14. Now, the Broncos are 2-2 and third in the AFC West.

Mike kicks off the recap mentioning how Denver's offense was once again nonexistent, and the 49ers were able to find ways to score all game.

On the bright side, circling back to the offseason additions to bolster the roster, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle caught his first touchdown as a Bronco, potentially opening the door for more success in the end zone this season.

Unfortunately, Denver sustained a few injuries in the loss, most notably to star cornerback Pat Surtain II. Wide receiver Pat Bryant also got hurt, and the status of both of them is not looking great.

There's allegedly a chance that Bryant and Surtain will hit the injured reserve list and be out for a month or so. There's no good time to be injured, but this is an especially bad time for the Broncos. With Denver hoping to turn this season around, they'll need all the help they can get.

Randy notes that offensive coordinator Davis Webb might be in the hot seat after the embarrassing start to the season, which is a storyline to watch out for.

Our trio then changes up the vibe of this episode, talking about some of the good. Eric mentions the Broncos' defense, which kept the game close for part of the game. Denver's secondary depth was solid for most of the game as well and defensive lineman Zach Allen continues to be a problem on the front lines.

Running back RJ Harvey struggles to rush against San Francisco's run prevention, but he did manage to pick up a few more receptions than normal -- meaning there could be an avenue to explore moving forward.

Despite the crucial injuries, Denver hopes to get back on track this upcoming Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. LA is having an even worse season than the Broncos, still searching for their first win of the year.

The Chargers haven't been able to do much all year, so this is Denver's best opportunity to get above .500.

However, a loss against the Chargers could warrant hitting the panic button and some massive changes to how the Broncos have been operating this season.

Listen to the full episode for Mike, Randy and Eric's breakdown or Week 4's loss and preview of what's to come on Sunday, Oct. 11.
