The Denver Broncos will take on an Arizona Cardinals team in Week 7 that knocked off the Los Angeles Rams by kicking six field goals last week.

The Denver Broncos defense has willed the team to a 4-2 record despite the offense performing like the worst since the Nathaniel Hackett-led Broncos and will take on the 2-4 Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.

The Broncos handled business against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, securing a gutsy 17-14 overtime victory on “Thursday Night Football,” but the winning effort was thanks to the defense for keeping quarterback Sam Darnold in shambles all night long.

Denver’s offense has struggled to stay on the field and produce, and in the first few weeks it was due to offensive coordinator Davis Webb’s play-calling. But now that head coach Sean Payton has regained those duties, the Broncos have won their last two games.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that the offense isn’t doing enough at this point in the season and putting immense pressure on the defense to keep them in the game on a weekly basis.

QB Bo Nix needs to be a lot better and star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle needs to be involved more. Waddle went berserk in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching eight of 10 passes for 138 yards, but he hasn’t come close to repeating that kind of performance in four games since then.

The Seahawks defense is in the same echelon as Denver’s, so it’s not a surprise that game wasn’t won on offense, but Denver’s struggles are concerning.

Arizona isn’t a good team on either side of the ball and would be a nice get right game for Nix and the Broncos, but the Los Angeles Rams thought they could take the Cardinals lightly and ended up losing by death of a thousand paper cuts, so the Broncos can’t afford to act like this will be an easy win.

I don’t think they will, just because this team hasn’t done enough offensively to think they can waltz into a matchup and just win it outright, but they need to be moving the ball. The Cardinals defense kept LA’s potent offense in check, maybe because Sean McVay wasn’t going to Puka Nacua or Kyren Williams as much as he should have, but they got the job done against a great offense, nonetheless.

Both teams need this win badly, but I’d argue it means more to the Broncos which are chasing the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs for first place in the American Football Conference West division.
