Cleveland Browns wide reciever Jerry Jeudy has been named a trade chip entering the new season.
The Cleveland Browns are in an interesting spot as the new NFL season gets going this week.
Cleveland isn't seen as a team that will be competing for the playoffs, but they do have a lot of talent across the roster. The big problem for the Browns is the quarterback position, with the team not having a long-term answer.
Veteran Deshaun Watson will be the starter, followed by a few young guys on the depth chart. But the Browns do have some weapons that could make whoever is under center's life much easier.
One of these players is wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who did make the Pro Bowl in 2024. Jeudy did have a down season with Cleveland, but he will be looking to bounce back in 2026.
However, Jeudy has been named as a possible trade chip entering the NFL season by analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. Given that the Browns drafted multiple wide receivers this year, this could leave Jeudy out to dry on the depth chart.
"Jeudy had a down year in 2025, along with the rest of the Browns' offense. However, he was a Pro Bowler in 2024 and is still only 27 years old. He should interest receiver-needy teams, and his $1.5 million base salary for 2026 is extremely team-friendly," Knox wrote.
Last season, Jeudy caught 50 passes for 602 yards and two touchdowns. This type of production won't get the job done, especially for an up-and-coming team like the Browns.
With Cleveland adding both KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, the Browns may look to move Jeudy for some future assets. Cleveland has been very high on the upside of each rookie wideout, giving more thought to Jeudy's future with the Browns.
Jeudy could be a strong addition to any team, giving interested squads someone who has proven himself in the league before. This move would be about going all in for the future of the Browns, gaining additional value for a player who may not be part of the plans.
But for now, Jeudy will try to help the Browns in the best way that he can. And if he can return to his 2024 form, Jeudy could net Cleveland even more from a potential trade.
Cleveland will open the new season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road, giving them a good test to kick off the Todd Monken era.
